Faith & Blue Meets Al-Farooq Masjid 

On October 7, 2022 Al Farooq Masjid had the opportunity to host the Faith & Blue gathering  in Atlanta, Ga. Faith & Blue is a Law enforcement community based organization, who ethos is as follows:  

Faith & Blue is based on the premise that strong communities are built through mutual respect and understanding. Law enforcement and faith institutions are key pillars of each community, and when they work together, neighborhoods thrive.

The meeting at Al-Farooq Masjid was opened by Imam Sajad reading from the Quran.  The Imam reminded the gathering of the Verse of Quran: 

 

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍۢ وَأُنثَىٰ وَجَعَلْنَـٰكُمْ شُعُوبًۭا وَقَبَآئِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ أَتْقَىٰكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌۭ ١٣

O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may ˹get to˺ know one another. Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware.1

 

After the reading of the Quran Brother Junaid Warsi and Dr. Muhammad Tomeh , welcomed the guest to Al Farooq Masjid, followed by Dr. Khalid Sadiq with a brief history of the Al-Farooq organization.

Following Dr. Khalids presentation, Brother Yasin Ahad, who is presently a detective with the APD, and a graduate DaruNoor School, made a brief speech on behalf of the APD Chief Carven Tyus.  Cheif Tyus did come to the podium and assured the community that he and his people were there to help us in any way he could.  

 

Bilal Mahmud expressed to the Chief that one of our most morbid fears is that we would become a target of some deranged individual, and that the community and Law Enforcement have to get it right everytime, whereas the bad guys only have to get it right only once.  Brother Kareem from DaruNoor Academy emphasized the security around the school,  and pointed out a few potential problems.  To which the Chief responded to very positively, again offering the full support of the APD.

Following the exchange Dr. Khalid and Brother Bilal took the group on a short tour of the Masjid.  There were many interesting question that we hope were answered adequately.
