Junkin Junky, Dawsonville, Ga.

As you travel on Ga. 53 west into Dawsonville, Ga., the mountain roads twist and turn on the narrow two-lane road that takes you through Dawsonville. Dawsonville is a small, quiet city in Dawson County, Georgia, United States. The population was 3,720 in 2020. Dawsonville is included in the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell, GA metropolitan statistical area.

Dawsonville was founded in 1857 as the seat of Dawson County. It was incorporated as a town in 1859 and as a city in 1952.[6] The community and the county are named for U.S. Senator William Crosby Dawson

The quiet community is at the junction of State Routes 9, 53, and 136. SR 9 leads northeast 14 miles (23 km) to Dahlonega and south 17 miles (27 km) to Cumming, while SR 53 leads southeast 6 miles (10 km) to U.S. Route 19 and west 24 miles (39 km) to Jasper. SR 136 also leads to Jasper, on a 29-mile (47 km) route that runs further to the north through the southern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

As you come off of Ga 400 N., you start west on Ga. 53. It's unbelievable how winding the road is approaching Dawsonville. Then all of a sudden, you come upon this unique antique or odd and ends place on the left side of the road. You are greeted by a big Red Rooster that is almost scary. Junkin Junky is the name of the place that sells just about anything you could think of. This quiet little shop is owned by Mr. Dell Conner. A very lively middle-aged man from Dawsonville. I was given a slight tour of the place, and Mr. Conner told me that he had been there since 1975. I couldn't resist taking a few pictures to share with the world and to make them aware of this place called Dawsonville, Ga., located 2002 Hwy 53 East, Dawsonville, Ga. 470-660-1126
