On Al-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz
All over the globe, and particularly in the u.s., people will be honoring the life and commemorating the assassination of El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz/Malcolm X tomorrow on the 21st.
In an article he posted on 2-19-2025, Ajamu Baraka – Editor of Black Agenda Report and renowned social justice activist – included the following quote of El-Hajj Malik:
“The price to make others respect your human rights is death. You have to be ready to die… it’s time for you and me now to let the world know how peaceful we are, how well-meaning we are, how law-abiding we wish to be. But at the same time, we have to let the same world know we’ll blow their world sky-high if we’re not respected and recognized and treated the same as other human beings are treated.”
Cuban revolutionary – Jose Marti – once made a comment on the proper way of responding when faced with challenges such as those that have been a constant scourge ever since Afrikan descendants arrived on the shores of the western hemisphere: “Neither peoples nor men respect those who do not make themselves respected.”
How can one who acquiesces to abuse, brutality, disrespect, injustice, oppression and tyranny ever expect to be respected? Those who accept, conform to and tolerate such excesses will never, ever gain any respect. This is where Black people in america are today. We are at a point where we are, collectively and qualitatively, worse off than we were 50/60 years ago. Our situation is getting more and more dire with each passing day. Musk, trump, vance and their ilk are consolidating ranks on a global scale. Lately, they have become so emboldened that they’re using terms such as ‘parasite-class’ and ‘vermin’ to describe groups that don’t live-up to the standards they deem acceptable.
If American Born Afrikan descendants are serious about asserting our humanity; we eventually will have no choice other than to demonstrate our resolve by waging a campaign of stiff resistance. In the year 2025, it is absolute lunacy for people of Afrikan descent to rely on the benevolence and good natured heartiness of the u.s. ‘oppressor-class’ to realize any meaningful, significant improvement in our overall living conditions. All the boycotting, complaining, marching, protesting, talking and voting will get us no more than what we’ve gotten up to this point.
Those blacks who have embraced d.t. are clearly self-serving opportunists who should be seen for what they are. They should be kept at a distance. It can just about be guaranteed that they will surely inform on any strategy being planned to mount a serious countermeasure against the forces of repression that are closing in on us; just to receive a ‘bone’ for the faithful service they render to their master. They must be kept at bay and not allowed the least bit of information on our plans of action for survival.
It is time for us, as a collective nation of Afrikan descended people, to set-off on a course of decisive action that is becoming of self-respectable men and women. The ‘hand-writing’ is on the wall. May we be alert enough to see it for what it is and act appropriately.
