UNDERCOVER ASSAULT: Aissatou Diallo says she was beaten, called a terrorist and had her burqa torn off by two women.

investigating as a possible hate crime, The Post has learned.

Aissatou Diallo, 56, said she was pummeled after asking one of the women to stop taking her picture as she walked to her husband's store Wednesday.

"I was minding my business. I was fully covered. So, why did they attack me -- just because I am a Muslim?" Diallo told The Post.

Diallo said she politely asked Francesca Johnson, 28, to quit snapping cellphone shots as she walked down St. Nicholas Avenue near West 141st Street.

Johnson, who is black, ducked into a building and reappeared with Linda Paplow, 60, who is white.

"The white lady called me a

f--king terrorist," Diallo said. "She said she was going to kill me. The white lady punched me in the left eye."

They ran off for a moment, and then "the ladies came back behind me and threw me to the floor," she said. "They pulled off my burqa and cursed at me."

The suspects were busted on assault charges. Hate-crime detectives are investigating.

CAIR-NY Seeks Hate Crime Charges for Attack on Muslim Woman
Assailants allegedly beat woman they called 'f**king terrorist'

(NEW YORK, NY, 7/9/11) -- The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) today called on state and federal authorities to file hate crime charges against two people who allegedly attacked a Muslim woman, ripped off her religious attire and called her a "f**king terrorist."

The 56-year-old woman says she was attacked Wednesday after asking one of the two alleged assailants to stop taking her picture as she walked down a New York City street. The alleged attackers were charged with assault. Hate crime charges are being investigated.

 

"An American of any faith or ethnicity should be able to walk down the street without fear of bias-motivated harassment or attack," said CAIR-NY Civil Rights Manager Cyrus McGoldrick. "We urge New York law enforcement authorities and the FBI to bring appropriate hate crime charges in this troubling case."

He said CAIR-NY recently welcomed the filing of hate crime charges against a Brooklyn man who allegedly shouted "F****ing Arabs! F****ing terrorists!" as he attacked a Turkish man and his wife who live next door.
