Comment by Bilal Mahmud المكافح المخلص on September 4, 2012 at 4:19pm: On her MSNBC show on Saturday, (09/01/12) Melissa Harris-Perry and her guests discussed the idea of who deserves what resources in America in light of the recent Republican National Convention and the politicization of welfare.

After Harris-Perry made the point that without social mobility the United States wouldn't be the same country, and that these days there's less of it, financial analyst Monica Mehta piped up that America was built on business owners who take risks. And while her comment in a different context might not have been incendiary, it's clear that those words were the straw that broke Harris-Perry's back when they were used as a qualifier for which Americans deserve help.
