Ustadh Ashir Kirk began studing Al-Quran here in the U.S. in the Warsh Style of recitation at 10 years old.  At the age of

16, he was blessed to complete 4 years of Arabic and Islamic studies in Damascus, Syria.  There, he focused on Tajweed (methodology of Quran recitation) studies, primarily in Warsh mode and Hafs mode.  He studied at the Abu Noor University for 3 years and completed one year of private studies with Shaykh Anas Al-Hibri and Shaykh Dr. Samir Al-Nass. 

 

After completing his studies in Syria, he traveled to Morocco to focus on memorizing the Quran.  In Morocco, he was blessed to experience memorizing Quran in the town of Kelaa Des Saraghna, the birth city of his first Quran teacher in the U.S. Shaykh Ahmed Lamfadel. He studied at Zawiyah Bilbahlou, also called, Madrasa Rahaliya, with Shaykh Muhammad Al’arabi Bilbahloul.  He was the first and only American that had ever studied at the school and in the town.  He returned to U.S. to establish his family life and continued his Tajweed studies.  He met, Shaykh Mohammad Najib Khalid Alubaysi (Abu Salman), in Taledo, Ohio who memorized the Quran in all 10 modes of recitation  By the grace and mercy of Allah,    Sheikh Ashir obtained 2 ijaazahs (teaching qualification) from him in the Hafs style of reading.  The ijaazaat are for reading the Quran with him from cover to cover with full Tajweed, both theory and practice with basic tafseer studies.  He lives in Memphis and is married to his lovely wife, Majidah, and is raising three wonderful girls. 

 

Usthadh Ashir is presently leading Tarawih (Arabic: تراويح‎) in the Atlanta Masjid Of Al-Islam, praying 8 rakats  plus shaifi and witr prayer.  Isha prayer is at 22:00 (10:00 pm).  Please support this young American born Imam and reciter of the Quran.  Ramadan 1436 A.H. /2015
