ATLANTA (GA) –Georgia's diverse leaders represent many faith traditions, including Islam (Muslims). These Muslim leaders are active participants in their communities and proud to be Georgians, proud to be Americans. The Islamic Speakers Bureau of Atlanta (ISB) will honor these men and women for their contributions at the first "100 Influential Georgia Muslims" gala dinner, on Friday evening, September 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Cobb Galleria. Monica Pearson, former WSB-TV news anchor, journalist, and Atlanta personality, will serve as mistress of ceremonies for the evening. 

The awards will be presented in eight categories and will be introduced by key Georgia leaders including Mr. Charles Kuck, Managing Partner of Kuck Immigration Services, and Ms. Judith Montier, Vice President of Marketing for the new National Center for Civil and Human Rights. The honorees represent fields as varied as education, the arts, medicine, sports, community activism, and philanthropy, and were selected by an independent panel of judges. The ISB, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, apolitical educational organization, is dedicated to promoting awareness and understanding of the Islamic faith between the many diverse communities across the state of Georgia. As part of the organization's mission, in March 2014, the ISB called for nominations for “100 Influential Georgia Muslims” to recognize and honor these outstanding leaders who have had an extraordinary impact on their community, who positively challenge those around them, and who instill passion, conviction, and confidence in others. The gala also serves as a fundraiser for ISB. 

"You are invited to join us as we 'Continue the Legacy and Change the Narrative' of Muslims in America," said ISB founder and executive director Soumaya Khalifa. "Our goal for this event is to showcase the contributions and the diversity of the Muslim community across Georgia and to celebrate these individuals who have made important contributions to our state."
