Post-Election Town Hall & Self-Defense Seminar
TOWN HALL: CONFRONTING, CURING & CHANNELING YOUR POST-ELECTION STRESS DISORDER
Georgia Muslims will unite to host a post-election community town hall meeting followed by a self-defense seminar this Sunday, Nov. 20th, at 11 am at Al-Farooq Masjid, God willing.
Although the 2016 election has ended, our social and political activisim can continue. Learn how you can stay involved in the community while also physically protecting yourself, your mosque and your family from harm, iA.
Part 1: COMMUNITY TOWN HALL (11 am to 12 pm)
During the community town session hall led by Aisha Yaqoob of the Georgia Muslim Voter Project, Georgia Muslims will discuss ways that our community can stay active and involved moving forward, from political acivisim to interfaith outreach to protecting our rights, iA. Audience members will lead the discussion, asking questions and sharing concerns with leaders of various Georgia Muslim organizations, iA.
Part 2: SELF-DEFENSE TRAINING (12 pm to 1:00 pm)
Following the town hall, we will host a self-defense panel featuring speakers who will offer advice about mosque security, responding to an active shooter situation, and self-defense tips for women, iA.
As you know, Muslim-Americans have experienced an uptick in verbal and physical assaults, including vandalism against mosques and bullying at school, since the election.
Learn how to better protect yourself, your mosque and your family, iA. (We also plan to announce details about a private Self-Defense Training specifically and only for women, to be held at a later date).
