Our 4th annual cleanup event at this mosque. Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to come and help beautify the masjid, inside and out!

Masjid Beautification Day (MBD) aims to become a National Day of Community Service for Muslims in the USA. This year's FOURTH ANNUAL EVENT is Saturday, July 30, 2016, and sign in begins at 8:30 am. MBD (modeled after Georgia Tech's "Tech Beautification Day" - https://gttbd.wordpress.com/ ) was established in 2013 by a group of college students and young professionals:  http://www.masjidbeautificationday.com/

As in all of the past years, we will also be coordinating with the Home Park neighborhood, supplying volunteers and joining in the effort to beautify the city blocks surrounding the masjid. In addition to the main masjid building and adjacent Dar-un-Noor (school) campus, the Dar-ul-Uloom (hifz academy) facility down the road, and the entire neighborhood, as always we are calling for a group of brothers to maintain and clean the masjid's Lovejoy cemetery (car pooling with take place from 14th St.). It is an ambitious scope of work, but with the right turnout of volunteers -- and we can never have too many -- we'll make a significant impact inshaAllah!

Finally, before signing up for this event, please check your local masjid's (if other than Al Farooq) events schedule, in case they are holding an MBD event at the same time that you may be interested in. We are working to build a tradition that spans multiple masajid on a common day of community service. Though MBD began 3 years ago at Al Farooq, we have slowly been adding locations each year, so check to see if your masjid has been added, and of course, spread the word inshaAllah!
