The world lost a beautiful human being. We are forever indebted to our beloved brother Mansour Ansari. Just received the very sad news of his passing. May God have the utmost Mercy on his soul and provide his family with beautiful patience. He will leave behind a beautiful legacy. Mansour you will be terribly missed.
This is a community-led campaign, started by Brother Altaf Husain, in support of Brother Mansour’s family during these final moments.

To Allah we belong and to Allah we are all returning. May Allah engulf his beautiful soul in His Mercy, forgive him of his sins, enter him into the highest assembly without reckoning, and console the hearts of his precious family and friends.

In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful, who is one and has no partner. May peace and blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad, his family, his companions, and all of God's prophets and messengers.
I pray that Allah counts Brother #MansourAnsari as a martyr, grants him the highest rank of Paradise, and comforts his family. He was a wonderful man, a dedicated community advocate, a Muslim role model, and a heart-warming person to be around. I especially loved his khutbas; not only because of the timely and relevant topics, but because of his beautiful style of speaking. He had this fascinating New York-style cadence that kept you both amused and attuned to his every word.
I know that the CAIR Georgia team was planning to recognize him with an award at their annual banquet this very weekend, but Allah SWT is the best of planners. May Mansour receive infinitely better recognition in the best of places with the Best of Hosts. Ameen.

Inna lilahi wa inna lilaihi rajeoun (From Allah we come and to Allah we return). The inevitability of death is accepted by all Believers as part of the cycle of life ordained by Allah subhanawata'la. Yet, when I was told that Brother Mansour Ansari transitioned Tuesday evening, it was no less heart-wrenching. Brother Mansour and I met in Washington, DC in the 1970s as members of the Islamic Party in North America. The initial casual encounter developed into a friendship and brotherhood that spanned over 40 years.
Brother Mansour was born in Worcester, MA into a Christian household. His father, a Lebanese Christian, who migrated to America from Lebanon.
. Brother Mansour married Sister Niambi Kofi in the 1970s and from that union Ustadha Zaynab Ansari and Sumayyah Ansari were born.
Brother Mansour was an authentic global citizen as he lived in the United States, London, Syria, and Iran. He never met a stranger and was an engaging conversationist with a brilliant sense of humor, even in the most trying of circumstances.
Few American Muslims have the capacity to work with virtually all segments of the Muslim community, but this is exactly what Brother Mansour did while living in New Orleans and his long-time hometown of Atlanta. He was a noted specialist in oriental rugs and had shops in New Orleans and Atlanta. Brother Mansour had the first known independent Islamic bookstore in Atlanta which was a popular site for Muslims to discuss issues affecting the community. He was a freelance writer and a lifelong community activist who was frequently seen at rallies and programs like gatherings in support of Imam Jamil Al-Amin.
May Allah subhanawata'la forgive his shortcomings, make his grave spacious and filled with light, and grant him Jannatul Firdous (the highest level of Paradise).

Mansour Ansari by Yusuf Ahmad Nur Ph.D. ...

50mm: Dr. Yusuf Ahmed Nur
I met Mansour Ansari in May 1986 when I moved to Atlanta from Fresno, CA. America was in the throes of deep depression. I couldn’t find a job despite (or maybe because of) the fact I had an MBA and a bachelor degree in electrical engineering.

Mansour Ansari gave me a job at his oriental carpet shop. Everything I know about oriental carpets I learned from him. After a few months of working at the carpet store, Mansour asked me to manage his Muslim bookstore located less than two blocks from Al-Farouq Masjid. It was at that bookstore that I met Valerie Cox, my future wife and the mother of our seven children.

Mansour was one of the funniest and easy going guys I ever met. He was friends with everybody. He loved to tell jokes. He exuded happiness; with him there was never a dull moment. I don’t remember him ever losing his temper.

Mansour had a prodigious memory for names and telephone numbers. He could memorize a telephone number right away without writing it down. He would just repeat it to himself a couple of times and voilà, it would be imprinted in his memory. Whenever the telephone number of a customer or a service provider was needed, he would just pull it out of memory without missing a beat.

Soon after Valerie and I got married, we started visiting with Mansour, Niambi and their two daughters. I remember them inviting us to dinner many times.

Mansour Ansari will be missed for his affability, his generosity, and his humor. May Allah forgive him and enter him into His paradise.

Indeed to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
Oh Allah you are the Most Forgiving Most Merciful, forgive brother Mansour Ansari and have mercy on him. Oh Allah protect him and pardon him. Oh Allah generously give nobility to his abode and make vast his entering into it. Oh Allah wash him with water, snow and sleet and purify him from his sins the same way a white garment is purified from a stain. Oh Allah compensate him for his good deeds with excellence, and compensate him for his sins with forgiveness and pardon him, until he is in the grave enveloped in tranquility, and at the time of accountability reassured, and amongst those quickest to entering the highest of Paradise. Oh Allah send down onto his grave illumination, light, vastness and happiness.

My last meeting with my late friend and brother Mansour Ansari. This meeting took place in Chattanooga, TN, few years ago. Mansour went to be with his Creator yesterday.
I met Mansour when I moved to New Orleans in 1973, and soon after I established the first Islamic Center in town. Mansour's father was originally from Lebanon, so it was natural that Mansour and I will get closer. He was a new convert to Islam and I offered him to work with me in my oriental rug store on Royal St.
In 1988 I moved out of New Orleans to Fairfax, VA and Mansour moved to Atlanta, GA.
We stayed in touch for all these years. Mansour was a brother and he will be missed.
I pray that Allah will wrap him with His Loving Mercy, to make Janatul Firdous his final abode, and may Allah comfort his family and give them solace. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
