Imam Jamil Al Amin commissioned Bilal Mahmud to be the Khatib for the Eid Al- Adha prayer in 1998. The prayer was held in the old Sear's building on Ponce DeLeon Ave, Atlanta, Ga. This particular Eid prayer was one of the first collective Eid prayers coordinated by the Majlis As Shura of Atlanta, where many of the Masaajid came together collectively to pray on this joyous occasion. The attendance on this particular day was in the neighborhood of 9 to 10k, Muslim praying together in one space.

During that period Ajir Bilal Mahmud was also the chairman of the board of trustees of Al Farooq Masjid of Atlanta, Ga., one of the premier Masaajid of the Atlanta Metropolitan area. Ajir Bilal is one of the founding member of Masjid Al Farooq dating back to 1978, when the project first got underway going on to become a reality in 1980 when the Masjid first opened.
