Tariq Ramadan is a Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies in the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Oxford University. He is a Muslim intellectual, Islamic scholar and philosopher who made headlines when he called for an international moratorium on corporal punishment in the Muslim world. He was one of several foreign scholars to be banned from entering the United States of America because of their political views. His ban was recently lifted and he currently tours the world sharing his views on contemporary issues.
The National Coalition to Protect Civll Freedoms is a coalition whose mission is to educate the public about the erosion of civil and political freedoms in the society and the abuses of prisoners within the U.S. criminal justice system especially after 9/11, and to advocate for the preservation of those freedoms and to defend those rights.
