One of the issues many women, especially visibly Muslim women or women of color, run into is we are hyper aware of the need to prove our competence. Men's competence, especially white men, is taken for granted. So we focus on appearing competent vs "warm", even seeing warmth as a weakness. This ends up hurting our ability to influence others.
