When we witness the events that are taking place in Washington, DC we reflect on the fact that white privilege has its merits, and that white bodies are bullet proof, and that Black bodies become bullet riddled.
We see anarchists who are called protesters storm the capitol with minimal resistance. This is a glaring receipt of white privilege.
So many adherents of White supremacy have a difficult time accepting the apparent coming plurality of the United States, and their resistance to the sharing of power.
I often reflect on the cost of bigotry and racism to this country. Just imagine the lost brain power that has been denied just because of race or religion?
Many of the “protesters” are working people who vote against their own interests time and time again egged on by the moneyed class. So much could be accomplished if people are able to get out of their own way, and put their racism and bigotry aside to accomplish great things.
When Black people and their allies protested police brutality last summer what was the end result? There were 14,000 people arrested. Black people have continued to actually be killed for less, with their murderers walking free.
The problem that people of African descent have with issues such as these is that it demonstrates that American justice is not blind she sees clearly through racist lenses.
We have to accept that in this time the activities of the people who stormed the capitol on 01/06/21 are reminiscent of lynch mobs that operated with the complicity of law enforcement in the past.
This is all too familiar to those whose community has been impacted by mobs such as we witnessed at the capitol. The unwillingness to accept the results of elections has demonstrated the hypocrisy of those who try to rationalize voter suppression.
In spite of The gutting of the Voting Rights Act, voter ID laws and downsizing of precincts, African Americans voted as a block to change the political direction of this country from a facist leaning one to a government that respects the pluralism of this land.
These tactics highlight the fears of the changing demographics of the country by those who worship at the idol of whiteness. With race being a made up social construct that is at the foundation of this nation this visceral reaction to the election’s outcome is symptomatic of the last vestiges of white supremacy.
Instead of appealing to the voters of various races, they implement laws to make it more difficult for “the other” to vote. With the election of Rev. Warnock and Jon Ossoff these are two men who intersect, and are bridges to the progressive and civil rights communities.
Both men have a commitment to respect the pluralism of this nation, and both men have vowed to serve all of their constituents.
The attack on the Capitol demonstrates that the worship of power and the powerful trumps (excuse the pun) the commitment to the US constitution.
It also demonstrates the need for the 25th amendment to be considered due to the fact that this president cannot be trusted to carry out his duties in an ethical manner over the next two weeks.

What we saw on January 6, 2021, was years in the making. Centuries even.

The underwhelming presence and action of law enforcement today was a representation of the White supremacy that will never allow our Black communities to be free. Let’s not avoid the reality that we all know would have transpired had these been Black folks.

Our movement is one born of love and a vision of Black liberation. Those who call it violent are the same ones storming the Capitol today. BLM has never called for violence, nor will we today. What we do call for is this:

End white supremacy. Protect Black communities. Build a democracy that serves all of us, not a select few. We’re in it for the long haul.

This is NOT a protest.

As a protester, we would have been SHOT on sight. We would never even have been able to get inside the Capitol. There would have been more cops than people if we even dared engage in any of this despicable behavior.

America, meet the real thugs and rioters.

Like Malcolm X said, “chickens coming home to roost.”

This is unbelievable. Radical MAGA terrorists (not protesters; not demonstrators; not rioters; terrorists) have stormed the U.S. Capitol Building. The electoral vote count has been halted. The Vice President has been evacuated. Legislators have been ordered to shelter in place. Journalists report hearing shots fired inside the building.

By the way, can you even begin to imagine a scenario in which thousands of armed Black or Muslim or Latino demonstrators would be able to surround and then breach the U.S. Capitol without facing immediate and violent resistance from law enforcement? Where are the National Guard troops and federal agents who attacked peaceful BLM protesters last summer?

Again, this is unbelievable. And yet entirely predictable. Donald Trump is officially a madman leading a cult. #CapitolHill

No 25th amendment. Impeach him. Impeachment not only ends the immediate threat Donald Trump poses; it also forbids him from holding federal office in the future. He almost certainly wants to spend the next four years whipping up his cult in advance of a 2024 presidential campaign. Impeach him, and then we can--insha Allah--ignore him for the rest of his life.
