United Benefit Dinner .. Dalia Mogahed ...April 10, 2016

On behalf of Zakat U.S.A. and the other 8 social service organizations, who help to make this event possible and a fantastic success, we thank Allah for allowing us to be a part of this effort, and each of your for your part in our being able to do this work throughout the year. A special thanks to our sister Dalia Mogahed , who took time out of her busy schedule to come to Atlanta to give us one of the most inspirational speeches I have heard in a long time.

Different things have different rights on us, the fulfilling of these rights is not only a form of worship, but it could be and expiation in the hereafter. I would like to share with you an advice from one of my teachers , may Allah have mercy on him, Sheikh Taha Jabir al-Alwani: " I advise the rich to fulfill the rights of the poor in wealth, and I remind the poor that rich people were entrusted by Allah in His wealth to fulfill the rights of the poor." I pray that Allah will help us to become more sensitive to this responsibility and these rights, and that we use them to get closer to Allah...Again I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart.

She is Chairperson and CEO of Mogahed Consulting, a Washington, D.C. base executive coaching and consulting firm specializing in Muslim societies and Middle East. With John L. Esposito, she coauthored the groundbreaking book: WHO SPEAKS FOR ISLAM? WHAT A BILLION MUSLIMS REALLY THINK.
