The Lamppost Education Initiative presents the Second Annual 2019 Black American Muslim Conference (BAMC)to be held at the Georgia World Congress Convention Center in Atlanta, Georgia on April 19th, 20th, and 21st. The Black American Muslim Conference is a multi-ethnic gathering concerned with discussion and education about the history, plight, perspectives, diversity, and contributions of the black American Muslim population in North America. The conference brings together many of the most talented black American Muslim intellectuals, leaders, thinkers, culture creators, entrepreneurs, and other members of the broader community. All panels and lectures consist of and are led by Black Americans since it is our belief that the best way to become familiar with the diversity of any community and its cultural nuances is by hearing it directly from them. For this reason, we encourage similar conferences led by other ethnic groups with the same goal of educating the other. We consider this to be in harmony with the Qur’anic teachings wherein we learn that God created our diversity “…In order that you come to know one another” (Q 49:13)
