Sheikh Ihsan Bagby: Is The Muslim Brotherhood Some Kind Of Boogeyman?

One of things that disturbs me is when I see American Muslims mouthing the lines of the tyrants of the Middle East that the Muslim Brotherhood is some kind of boogeyman. This is the old line of Mubarak and Sisi and now of the UAE. I am not and have never been a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, but to say or imply that Sisi or the other tyrants of the Middle East are preferable to the Muslim Brotherhood is despicable--in my eyes. The Muslim Brotherhood in its long history has made mistakes, but I love the writings and minhaj of Hasan Al-Banna who lived and articulated a path forward in the modern world. I never joined the Ikhwan because, as an African American Muslim (out of the Dar), I did not believe that you should try to transplant an organization and thought in a very different soil. You learn from others-yes, but you don't try to simply duplicate something in a different environment.
