I know why the caged bird sings.

Victims of Domestic Violence are the caged birds who sing a song – their dua to ALLAH(SWT)

 

In this life there are those who cross our paths, touch our hearts and influence our lives such that in their passing we are saddened by this loss.

 

Maya Angelou was one such person.

 

She was instrumental in providing a role model for those marginalized, those oppressed and those abused.  She was a woman who through trials in her own life, embodied strength and courage, yet despite it all declared,

 

“…and still I rise”

 

On behalf of all victims of abuse everywhere, I offer my condolences on the passing of such an inspirational and exemplary woman.  A woman who exhibited the will to survive above and beyond adversity and in spite of everything, even against the prevailing odds, managed to land on her feet in an upright and respected statuesque position.   Maya Angelou was a woman who will truly be remembered and forever held in high esteem.
