I have nothing profound to say about 2024.

I only sit here in deep disappointment, heartache and disbelief. I lived and watched an entire year of genocide in 2024. Massacre after massacre all at the tips of my fingers. I watched lifeless bodies, burned bodies, limbless bodies. I listened to the wails of women, men and children over those that they love. I looked in the eyes of my people whose only ask was for us to STOP THIS. To demand that my country stop sending the weapons and bombs that ripped their worlds apart.

I worked every day. Almost every weekend. In to the late nights.

I couldn’t stop the slaughter of my own people. I watched people get quieter and quieter and move on as if to say - I guess this is just how it will be. I watched people gaslight. I also got the usual - attacks, death threats and defamation. The opposition slept little.

Oh 2025, what will you be? More heartache, more bloodshed? That’s how we are ringing in this new year - with mass murder, kidnapped doctors, tortured detainees and no ceasefire deal.

And the work, I can’t even begin to tell you. We are over here writing reports, scheduling gatherings, convenings, organizing and as the work increases, the resources always happen to decrease. I couldn’t believe that the day before people were going away for the holidays - a whole list of nonprofits gets an email from a funder talking about there will be no renewals in 2025.

But money isn’t a prerequisite for fighting for my people here and abroad. I am gonna do it anyway and I don’t need a pity party - I’ll do it even if I run myself into the ground or grave cause my people are worth that.

I will work tired, exhausted, at the expense of everything that is meaningful to me because I will not give up and will not allow anyone to be comfortable with genocide.

I have and will lose much more worldly things - but what they will never ever take from me is my integrity, my faith, commitment, and love for my people.

I am grateful I made it through 2024, barely, but I made it because the Lord has decided i have more to give.
