 Malaysian reality show to change perception of women in Muslim societies

A new thirteen-episode reality television show titled, “Solehah” in Malaysia aims to provide informal religious education, help Muslim women develop as Islamic preachers and acknowledge the role of women in the religion.

According to reports, the women are judged on their ability to deliver impromptu three-minute religious lectures, Quran recitation and personality. The producers of the new show hope to capitalize on the positive buzz generated by "Young Imam," which provides a modern spin on faith.

 

برنامج تليفزيون الواقع ماليزي يغير مدركات النساء في المجتمعات الإسلامية

يهدف برنامجٌ لتلفزيون الواقع مكون من ثلاث عشرة حلقةً تحت عنوان "سولاهاه" إلى توفير درب من التربية الدينية غير الرسمية، مساعدة النساء المسلمات على النمو كداعيات إسلاميات و الاعتراف بدور المرأة في الدين.

حيث أفادت التقارير الواردة أن النساء يتم الحكم عليهن وفقاً لقدرتهن على توصيل المحاضرات الدينية المرتجلة و التي تتراوح مدتها الثلاث دقائق، بالإضافة إلى قدرتهن على تلاوة القرآن و شخصيتهن. و يأمل منتجوا البرنامج الجديد إلى التركيز على الدوي الإيجابي لشباب الدعاة الذين يُقدمون محوراً جديداً للإسلام.
