Dear Friends,



      On behalf of the Interfaith Task Force of the CBF of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia and those who work closely with us in the

Baptist - Muslim Committee, I extend our sympathies to our brothers and sisters of the Muslim community here in Atlanta as well as to the world Islamic family in the recent tragedy that both injured and cost lives of worshippers at the Grand Mosque in Mecca last week.

      To all persons of Islam in Atlanta and across the globe who have lost friends or acquaintances in that catastrophe, we offer sincere condolences and pray for that special peace that faith offers.  It is painful enough to be awakened with the news of members of the larger family of our faith suffering death or serious injuries because of some disaster....it is even worse for one to lose a loved one or dear friend in such an astounding accident!

      In these days, may you and surviving loved ones of the shocking event at the Grand Mosque experience the sense of  Salaam---and in these times---may our continuing friendship be a source of encouragement and may the power of that friendship strengthen the sense of 'community', as we seek to work together as members of the family of God.
