Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia, and Related Intolerance to the proverbial back pages of media worldwide. Held in in Durbin, South Africa from 31 August-8 September 2001, the Conference focused global attention on the plight of African descendant-peoples that subsquently resulted in the UN declaring 2015-2024 the International Decade for People of African Descent. From March 19-23, the 22nd Session of the UN's Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent is meeting with official representatives from nations worldwide and members of civil societies globally to continue devlopment of a framework for the Declaration for the Rights of People of African Descent. Dynamic intervention papers have been presented from civil society representatives including Dr. Musa Dan Fodio, Atlanta-based General Counsel for the newly-established NGO International Commission of African Descendants. My participation is as a representative of ICNA Council for Social Justice.
