When Ambassador Huckabee told Tucker Carlson that it "would be fine" for Israel to steal land from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq and other countries to create "Greater Israel," he was not expressing a fringe idea. He was not making a mistake. He was openly admitting the logical conclusion of his morally inconsistent, biblically dubious, and fundamentally racist religious beliefs.

Mike Huckabee believes that the modern Israeli government has an automatic, open-ended, God-given right to to steal land from the region's indigenous population at will, to subjugate anyone who remains, and to slaughter anyone who resists.

According to Ambassador Huckabee, this divine right to conquer most of the Middle East belongs to people of ethnic Jewish descent around the world, even if they are secularists who do not believe in the existence of God, do not follow the Torah, and therefore do not believe that the biblical story of Abraham (peace be upon him) is true, which was the case for many of Israel's key founders and is the case for today many of its political leaders and a large secular segment of its population.

Ethnicity alone, Huckabee insists, makes the Israeli government and its citizens of Jewish descent favored by God and entitled to control a wide swathe of the Middle East regardless of their actual beliefs or actions.

At the same time, Ambassador Huckabee believes that Arab Christians and Arab Muslims have no right to stay on their land even if they and their ancestors have lived there for millennia, even if they believe in the God of Abraham, even if they recognize the Torah in its original form as a divine message, and even if they identify as descendants of Abraham through Ishmael (peace be upon him).

Because of their Arab ethnicity alone, Huckabee insists, they must give up their homes, their land, and their freedom to the Israeli government...or die.

For Muslims (and many Christians and orthodox Jews), Mike Huckabee's beliefs are irrational and immoral. God is Just. The Bible features many stories about God blessing the Children of Israel with special favors while also warning them of the potential consequences for disobedience, and in some cases, causing them to suffer those consequences.

The Quran has similar stories of rewards and consequences. The Quran also recounts this interesting interaction between God and Abraham:

"And when his Lord tested Abraham with certain words, he fulfilled them. (God) said: 'Surely I will make you a leader of men.' Abraham said, 'And of my offspring?' (God responded:) 'My covenant does not include the unjust.'"

To be clear, Mike Huckabee has every constitutional right to believe that God eternally favors one group of people over others based solely on their race or ethnicity. The problem is that Huckabee and others like him have spent decades turning their religious beliefs into U.S. government policies, with disastrous consequences for everyone else.

In the Middle East, some of the consequences have been occupation, apartheid, ethnic cleansing, genocide, terrorism, unnecessary wars, and dictatorships propped up by the west so long as they support or at least ignore Israel's crimes.

In America, some of the consequences have been political corruption, the erosion of free speech, anti-Muslim hate, anti-Palestinian racism, and the waste of billions in American taxpayer dollars on Israel and its goals.

Although Israeli leaders do not even believe in Mike Huckabee's Christian faith and actively oppress Palestinian Christians, they will happily use American Christians like him to maintain their system of apartheid in historic Palestine and subjugate others across the Middle East as long as they can get away with it.

We should be grateful for Mike Huckabee's honesty, which will--God willing--lead many more Americans to wake up to reject this insanity.
