BIMA announces Muslims will make voices heard at DNC
CHARLOTTE – Muslims from Charlotte and across the United States will let their voices be heard during the Democratic
National Convention. Monday, the Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs announced its Jumah at the DNC event.
Scheduled to run from August 31 through September 2, it kicks off with the traditional Friday Muslim prayer called the Jumah and includes an issues conference and cultural fun fest. Each of the events is open to the public to better inform those who are not familiar with the Muslim religion.
"More of an educational forum so that they'll go back to their respective communities, and let them know that the Muslims is an intricate, vibrant part of the American society and their rights need to be protected like every other citizen," said BIMA Executive Director Muhammad Jaaber.
Organizers expect upwards of 5,000 Muslims to attend the event.
