An Underwater Drone Entered the CLOTILDA Slave Ship...

An underwater drone went into the Mobile River and found something that had been sitting in the mud since 1860. The hull of the Clotilda — the last known slave ship to bring Africans to America sunk by its own captain to destroy the evidence. Scientists watching the footage went quiet. For generations their families carried this story without proof. The ship stayed hidden in that mud for a hundred and sixty years. What the cameras found down there nobody in that room was prepared for. This video breaks down exactly what the underwater footage revealed — the condition of the hull after a hundred and sixty years in the Mobile River what artefacts were found inside what the structural evidence tells us about how the ship was burned and sunk and what the DNA analysis of organic material recovered from the wreck has pointed to about the people who were brought here on its final voyage. The Clotilda's passengers kept their language and their community alive in Africatown Alabama for generations. The ship is now giving back what the captain tried to destroy. And what it is confirming is exactly what those families always said.
