People always told me, "you look just like ya dad! And ya act like him!" And I loved hearing that. I know some girls don't like "looking just like a man" but I never cared. My daddy was always a cutey to me. The only thing I never embraced until recently, was being southern. However, this past year I made my slogan, "I'm just a simple gal from the south" something my dad would say about himself. He was most definitely simple. No need for all the "hoorahs". He just wanted some beans and rice, boiled peanuts, oatmeal raisin cookies...oh and peppermints. Whenever he would ask me to get him some peppermints I found so much joy in the search. Last year when he was first diagnosed he asked for a specific type of peppermint (imma find me some when I get to ATL lol) and I had to go to 6 stores to finally get them. I was not going to stop until I found my dad his peppermints. Because he was a simple man and never asked for much so when he specified a want, I had to make sure I got it for him. He deserved it. He would have done the same for ALL of us. Without complaint.

So, this is why I would bask in the comments of "you look and act JUST like yo daddy!" Because he is someone to aspire to be.
