Al-Farooq Masjid of Atlanta, Ga. 

It is Tuesday, February 7, 2023, and Al-Farooq is the place of convening for different leaders from the Atlanta community , both Muslim and Non-Muslim.  Al Farooq is one of the larger Masjids in the Atlanta metro area.  Coming into existence in the late 70's early 80's, Al-Farooq has operated on the ethos of Quran, Sunnah and the Ijmaa of the scholars all the way back to our Prophet Muhammad. We have attempted, down through the years, to be excellent examples of human beings for the Muslim and Non-Muslim community. With that objective in mind, Al-Farooq hosted its traditional coming together of the Law Enforcement Community and the leadership of AFM.   The purpose of this gathering was to continue to establish a working relationship with the Law Enforcement Community and the Muslim Community. This practice of dialogue engagement can be traced back to our Prophet Muhammad. We know that he hosted numerous delegations from neighboring Non-Muslim countries, in his Masjid in Medina.  The purpose of these meetings was not one of proselytizing, but one of establishing a commonality of all parties as human beings.     Attending the gathering were members from different Law Enforcement Departments operating in the Atlanta area.  There were members of the Gwinette County Sheriff‘s  Department , Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, Fulton County Chaplain, Georgia FBI, Homeland Security, and representation from Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The meeting was opened with a reading from the Quran by the Imam of Al-Farooq, followed by a short welcoming speech from Dr. Tomeh, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.  Following Dr. Tomeh, Dr. Khalid Sadiqq gave a brief history of the Al-Farooq Masjid of Atlanta.  The gathering was very informal.  Members of the community addressed security concerns with the Law Enforcement body and were met with outstanding suggestions and a commitment to work to improve those  issues.  Following the fruitful exchange, lunch was served and the meeting ended with much being accomplished  by way of reestablishing lines of communication with the body of Law Enforcement in the Atlanta Area.   On behalf of Al-Farooq management, we thank all the participants for their attendance.  We  anticipate your next visit to our facility and look forward to more open communication as we work together in our near future.
