Everyone has an opinion on this one. And as a woman...my simple opinion is this...there is a difference between defending

my "physical body" from danger or attack and defending my honor from (perceived) verbal insult. Using your hands to defend/protect my "body" from actual physical danger/attack...I love and appreciate you for that. But defend my honor by "honoring" me.... let the world know that the supposed flaw someone else wanted to make fun of or tear me down with makes no difference to you. Honor me by loving me more and loving me loudly. Handle the insults in a peaceable way that doesn't tear YOU down (and other folks along with you) on one of the biggest nights of your career. I can think of other ways Will could have valiantly honored and defended Jada in a big way...he could have got his point across in ways other than getting up and slapping someone.

Too many Black men are dead today because of violence in the name of defending "honor". And I love the men in my life too much to have them risk that....over words.
