Eliza Brown Ussery is the daughter of Hillard Brown I, who was born in 1850. Hillard is the son of Hartwell Brown I, born in 1810. Historical county records indicate the Brown family has been residing in the Halifax County community since 1750, which is significant because this predates the official founding of America as a nation. The depth of this history is truly remarkable.
