Allah's Guidance!

[Al Haj Karriem el-Amin Shabazz]

Allah says in surah15 (Al-Hijr): ayat 28, "And (recall the time) when your Lord said to the angels, ‘I am, indeed, going to create a human being from dry ringing clay (formed) from black mud, molded into shape." 

I have researched this ayat in other translations, such as the Noble Qur’an, Abul Ala Maududi’s tafsir, Marmaduke Pickthall, Yusuf Ali, AJ Arbery, and others and found that the AJ Arbery and Yusuf Ali translations of the meaning of the Qur’an are the only translators, out of about 10 that I previewed, that didn’t include the translation of the Arabic words (hama in masnun) “black mud.” They both translated the word for mud, but omitted the word for black. My question is twofold:

1.  Am I in error if I believe, based on this and other ayats that our father Adam was non-white?
2.  What is the significance of including or omitting the descriptive word black from Allah’s guidance and mercy?
