- More than 6,800 civilians have been killed and at least 10,700 injured since March 2015, the UN says.

- About 75% of the population - 22.2 million people - are in need of humanitarian assistance, including

11.3 million people in acute need who urgently require immediate assistance to survive - an increase of 1 million since June 2017.

- Some 17.8 million people do not know where their next meal is coming from and 8.4 million are considered at risk of starvation.

- Severe acute malnutrition is threatening the lives of almost 400,000 children under the age of five.

The present war in Yemen has become one of most horrific examples of man’s inhumanity to man a human chess game with the participants primarily being locally Saudi Arabia & Iran, and internationally The United States, United Kingdom, and France.

The issues revolve around the conflict involving Iranian backed Houthi Rebels and the fractured Yemeni government backed by Saudi Arabia with the western supporting cast. In between this tragedy are the vulnerable civilian population who have been displaced and on the verge of starvation.

Yemen has been the source many contributions to the global Muslim community, and in particular a place where Muslims from the west could attain training in the classical Islamic sciences in a cost effective manner.

This country has now been reduced to a man made land of desolation. How do people who profess to read the same book and produce such different outcomes?

There are so many issues that the war in Yemen represents it is one of the battle grounds of groups purporting to represent the Muslim Umah.

These groups demonstrate their representation by blowing up masajid, hospitals, and school buses, and groups like Al-Qaida and ISIL are engaging in this abhorent behaviors also.

The tragedy in Yemen has the potential to be the flashpoint for a major regional conflict due to the stoking of sectarian sentiments.

Allah swt has put so many communications tools at our disposal, but we don't want human rights to get in the way of the newest version of Grand Theft Auto.

We have to do better as people of faith. We have to show empathy for the people of Yemen.

We have so much technology literally at our fingertips, but how many elected representative have you contacted?

We sit in great comfort in the United States while talking about “One Ummah”, but actualize a form of spiritual Attention Deficit Disorder in regards to the Yemeni tragedy.

The Muslim world is rife with sectarianism*** and this is antithetic to Islam. The real religion of the perpetrators of this tragedy is power.

The power hungry participants who have not been able to implement a viable political solution act like cannibals feasting on souls. How do we stop this tragedy?
