   Inauguration events for Jackson Mayor-elect Chokwe A. Lumumba have been finalized

1. Lumumba inauguration events announced

The events begin June 30 with a kick-off celebration in Smith Park. The family-friendly event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will include live entertainment and free food, organizers said.

Community Unity Celebrations are scheduled for July 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vergy P. Middleton Park and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jamie Fowler Boyll Park on Lakeland Drive. Celebrations will continue July 2 from noon to 3 p.m. at Westside Park and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Battlefield Park.

A swearing-in ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. July 3 at the Jackson Convention Complex. A prayer breakfast will take place that same day at 7:30 a.m. at Grace Inspirations Church on Grand Avenue, before Lumumba takes the oath of office.
