Since March 16, 2000 our Brother, Comrade, and Imam has been taken out of our mist. We have not, and will not

As of 24 June 2014, we are aware that Imam Jamil's health status is somewhat improved. However, serious concerns remain: one of Imam Jamil's feet remains badly swollen and he is unable to walk on it without pain, he continues to lose weight (30 lbs. as of 6/24), has not received the results of any of the diagnostic tests administered to him two weeks ago and most importantly, he has never been seen by a physician before, during or after this crisis, as is his right.
NOTE: Given his age and health status--it is imperative that Imam Jamil receive adequate medical treatment and on-going health care

UPDATE:
We are now aware that as of 12 June 2014 (Thursday) ADMAX USP has finally conducted the necessary diagnostic blood tests for Imam Jamil, and that other diagnostic tests were conducted on Friday (June 13) and Saturday (June 14).
It is your advocacy that made this movement on healthcare for Imam Jamil possible. We thank you and ask that God bless and reward each of you for your efforts on behalf of Imam Jamil. Please follow-up!!!
FOLLOW-UP:
We call on Federal Bureau of Prisons to transfer Imam Jamil from the ADMAX facility, where he is now held, to Butner Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina; given: (1) the inability of ADMAX USP to give Imam Jamil the adequate and timely medical attention he needs, (2) Imam Jamil's age, and (3) his current and anticipated future medical needs.

As the result of an outpouring of advocacy from the Muslim community, attention has been drawn to the injustice being visited upon Imam Jamil with the following result:
Imam Jamil has received treatment for the long-standing oral and dental infections which have triggered his condition, he has also received antibiotics following dental treatment.
However, Imam Jamil is still suffering from the effects of his long untreated condition:
1- He has lost 25 lbs. during the past two weeks because of a difficulty in swallowing and ingesting food due to abscesses and drainage in his mouth
2- His breathing has still not returned to normal
3- His feet remain tremendously swollen
Imam Jamil is in need of a doctor's care and he still has not been seen by a physician. The only medical treatment he has received has been from a dentist.
THE PRIORITY IS NOW FOR IMAM JAMIL TO BE EXAMINED AND TREATED BY A PHYSICIAN. T O BE TRANSFERED OUT OF ADX FLORENCE TO EITHER BUTNER, NC OR A FACILITY IN GEORIGA. UTIMATLY TO BE PARDONED AND RETURNED TO HIS FAMILIY AND THE UMMAA.

DETAILS ON IMAM JAMIL'S CONDITION
On the authority of Abu Saeed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) say, "Whoever of you who sees an evil must then change it with his hand. If he is not able to do so, then [he must change it ] with his tongue. And if he is not able to do so, then [he must change it] with his heart. And that is the weakest of faith." - (Sahih Muslim)
The Muslim Alliance in North America (MANA) continues to advocate for medical treatment for Imam Jamil Al-Amin and encourages continued action. Upon hearing of the Imam's medical condition approximately two weeks ago, the leadership of MANA consulted with the family of Imam Jamil and the leaders of the National Jamaat founded by him, and other allies, then initiated a series of actions including (but not limited to) contacting the Federal Bureau of Prisons in writing in order to notify them of the Imam's condition, register our concern for him, and urge that he receive the medical treatment to which he is entitled. Further we publicly urged that the Bureau of Prisons, and the Florence ADX facility where the Imam is being held be flooded with phone calls and letters doing the same. As-Salaamu 'Alaikum wa Rahmatullah
There is a sign of progress but Imam Jamil's condition is still dire and in need of advocacy. Here is the latest update as of last night:
1- A dentist finally removed a broken tooth of Imam Jamil at its root and gave him antibiotics, but he still has not seen a physician.
2- He has not been able to eat and the dentist has agreed that the abscess (one on each side) caused damage, i.e., his inability to breathe and the total shut down of his body.
3- He is only able to get out of bed a few times a day, and he has not been strong enough to get any exercise. In fact, he is stating that he is having difficulty walking.
4- He had an X-ray approximately two weeks ago, but does not know the results.
5- His feet (top and bottom) are swollen, and that needs to be addressed by a physician.
6- A medical aide (Nigerian) went by his cell and talked to him through the cell door--a medical examination?
7- He is aware that some communication from a Congressional office was received on his behalf, but he doesn't know the details.
8- He has not had recreation since he has been ill, which indicates that the prison is aware of his illness.
As you know, Imam Jamil is over 70 years old and needs emergency medical care without delay, in accordance with federal prison standards. His life is at risk.
