Assalaamu Alaikum (Greetings of Peace):

 

We are now just a few days away from two very important events. On Sunday, September 2, 2012, a special two-part forum will be held at The Carnegie Library (directly across from the DC Convention Center) in downtown Washington, DC. The forum is scheduled to begin at 2 PM.

 

The first part of the community forum will center on the life and legacy of a man who many consider to be the most well known and respected former U.S. Attorney General in modern history, Ramsey Clark. Part two will comprise a support rally for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, and information on what we in America can do to help alleviate the suffering of this highly regarded prisoner of war.

Who Is Dr. Aafia Siddiqui?

 

Professor Clark is on his way back from a visit to Pakistan (see the links below), and he will no doubt have much to say about the political imprisonment of Aafia Siddiqui. In addition to Professor Clark, we expect to have a number of other special guests in attendance as well, including a member of Aafia's family.

 

If you have not yet reserved your seat for what will no doubt be a memorable (and much needed) event, it's not too late! However, seating for this free event will be on a first come first serve basis, and so we advise you to reserve your seat TODAY by sending an e-mail request to [e-mail] (please include your name and number with your request).

 

(WE ARE LOOKING INTO THE POSSIBILITY OF DOING A LIVE ONLINE STREAM FOR THIS EVENT, SO THAT OTHERS OUTSIDE THE WASHINGTON AREA CAN ACCESS THE PROGRAM, INSHA'ALLAH.)

 

And finally, the very next morning at 11 AM (Labor Day Monday) a group of us will assemble for a reflective rally at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial (near the Washington Monument grounds) - and revisit Dr. King's historic speech, "Where Do We Go From Here?"
