Day Of Action In Solidarity With Imam Jamil Al-Amin
To: The Majlis Ashura of Metro Atlanta
Subject: March 19th Mobilization for Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin
Assalaamu Alaikum:
I pray this finds each of you (and your respective families) well.
March 16, 2012, will mark the 12th anniversary of the tragedy that resulted in Imam Jamil's political imprisonment in the United States of America; an imprisonment based on a long held grievance against this socio-political reformer, and a judicial process that was not fair by any objective analysis. That he currently resides underground in America's only supermax prison (located in Florence, CO.) only compounds the ongoing injury.
With ALLAH's permission, we will hold a demonstration in downtown Atlanta on Monday, March 19th, We are expecting Muslims and non-Muslims from different parts of the country to come into Atlanta for this long overdue national mobilization - among these will be such persons as the former U.S. Attorney General of the United States, Ramsey Clark, and Imam Zaid Shakir of Northern California.
Dear Muslims, as a human rights advocate with over two decades of struggle under his belt, I am well aware of the fear and trepidation that has gripped much of the Muslim community in America post 9/11 (especially many of its leaders). As both an advocate and student of history - not to mention committed Muslim (insha'Allah)
We invite you, we implore you, to partner with us in this noble effort. It is an opportunity for all of us to make up for what should have been done in the past. It is also an opportunity to bring our respective communities closer together through shared struggle in support of a man/leader, Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, who is most deserving of our communal support.

I am forwarding (below) a copy of the official flyer for the event - but be advised that the time may change. We are still working out the specifics with the requisite city officials on the ground in Atlanta (so that everything will be in order on March 19th). If there is a time change we will get that information to you immediately upon confirmation - but the date for the mobilization will remain Monday, March 19th, insha'Allah.
