Arabs Before Islam

When we contrast the behavior of Arabs before and after Islam, we need to mention the positives as well as the negatives.

Some Arabs would resent a total focus on the negatives without mentioning the positives. One of the most positive features they were known for was their hospitality.

 

Some of their positives are mentioned below.

 

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT/CULTURE-MIDDLE EAST: Arab Hospitality Runs Deep

The genuine warmth of Arab hospitality is renowned and is an integral part of their culture. Perhaps this can be traced back to their days of struggle in the desert, where every visitor to an oasis was greeted with open arms and no questions asked for the first three days, be they friend or foe.

We have not seen a people more willing to sacrifice when having a lot, nor more patient when having a little than the people whom we are staying among. Our provisions are so sufficient, and we share with them in their produce such that we fear that all our reward is gone. So the Prophet (s.a.w) said: "No. As long as you supplicate to Allah for them and praise (show gratitude to) them(for it)."
